Peter, the son of Raymond and Eileen (Gullickson) Scheel, was born March 8, 1961, in Madison. As a young boy he moved with his family to the town of Cleveland, Jackson County. Peter entered the U.S. Army and served his country from 1980 until his honorable discharge in 1995. He returned to the Osseo area and purchased a hobby farm where he enjoyed his animals, his garden and the wildlife that surrounded him. Peter married Cynthia Sue Lahner on June 4, 2006, at his farm in Osseo. Peter was commander of Craig S. Olson VFW Post 8514 in Osseo, volunteered with Special Olympics and was a member of Osseo Rod and Gun Club and Whitetail Deer Management. Peter is survived by his wife, Cindy; his daughter, who was the light of his life, Autum; three stepdaughters, Amanda L. Lahner, Ashlee S. Lahner and Amber L. Lahner, all of Osseo; three grandchildren, Rome Rauter, Trysten Beribeau and Addison Lahner; one brother, Richard (Sandy) Scheel of Madison; one sister, Rae (Joe) Pettis of Osseo; two nephews, Justin and Josh Pettis of Osseo; birth mother, Karen (Don) Zick of North Freedom; birth father, Harlan (Ursula) Young of Verona; three half brothers, Rolland (Cori) Zick, Robert (Beth Ann) Zick and Randy Zick; one half sister, Roxann (Dan) Small; several half nieces and nephews. Peter had many friends because he was a true friend himself. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at United Church of Christ in Osseo, with the Rev. Shari Randolph officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Osseo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Margaret Frieda Vitense died on 18 July 2008 at age 96; Margaret F.Roder, age 96, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at Greenway Manor in Spring Green. She was born on Aug. 6, 1911, in Madison, the daughter of the late Carl and Helen (Puestow) Vitense. She was united in marriage to Henry Roder on Sept. 4, 1943. He preceded her in death in September 1970. Margaret was a lifelong member of St.
James Lutheran Church. Survivors include two children, Karen (Donald) Zick of North Freedom and Keith (Sharon) Roder of Waukesha; six grandchildren, Roland (Cori) Zick, Roxanne (Dan) Small, Robert (Beth Ann) Zick, Randall Zick, and Craig and Melissa Roder; a granddaughter-in-law, Cindy Scheel; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marion Vitense of Milwaukee; a nephew, Alan (Joan) Vitense of West Allis; and two great nephews, Carl and Christopher Vitense. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded
in death by a grandson, Peter Scheel; two sisters, Lorraine Liebetrau and Edna Vitense;
and two brothers, Edgar and Carl Vitense. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, with Pastor Bradley Pearson officiating.      William R. Michels was born on 16 July 1921. He was the son of William Michels and Winifred Rowan. William R. Michels married Eleanore Meudt, daughter of Frederick L. Meudt and Mary A. Adams, on 6 October 1945. William R. Michels died on 26 September 2007 at age 86; William R. "Bill" Michels, age 86, formerly of Spring Green, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. He was born on July 16, 1921 at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Dodgeville to William and Winifred (Rowan) Michels. After graduating from Spring Green High School, Bill attended the University of Wisconsin ? Madison. He then returned to Wyoming Valley to work on the Michels family farm. He married Eleanore Meudt on October 6, 1945 and they made their home on the farm. Bill was a dairy farmer, but his pride and joy was his herd of Red Angus beef. Bill?s hobby was raising and training Suffolk draft horses. He showed his team of Suffolks at the Iowa County Fair and traveled to many area parades. In addition, Bill drove the team, pulling a surrey for tours of Taliesin. He was politically active and served on the local school board, the Wyoming Township Board and the Iowa County Board. He was a member of St. John?s Catholic Church in Spring Green and was also a member of Pleasant Ridge SS. Peter and Paul Preservation, Inc. He is survived by a sister, Mary (Frank) Campbell of Richfield, Minnesota; three sisters-in-law, Jean Michels of Waunakee, Margaret Wiest of Dodgeville, and Leone Jacobson of Lake San Marcos, California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanore; his parents, William and Winifred; two brothers, John and Edward; and three sisters, Sadie Neuville, Leona Schauf and Winifred Carnes. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Sunday, September 30th, at 12:30 p.m. at ST. JOHN?S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Spring Green. Father Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery at Pleasant Ridge at 3:00 P.M.. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home, Spring Green, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

     John H. Wiest was born on 31 October 1919. He was the son of John A. Wiest and Louisa Reider. John H. Wiest died on 20 October 2004 at age 84; John H. Wiest, age 84, of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004. He was born on Oct. 31, 1919, to John A. and Louisa (Reider) Wiest. On June 24, 1944, he married Margaret Meudt. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer. John grew up and farmed on the Wiest Century Farm in the Pleasant Ridge community. He was very proud to farm the land that has been in the Wiest family since 1868. Dairy farming was his life, and John enjoyed caring for the animals and working the soil along his lifelong partner, Margaret. They moved to Dodgeville in 1985, where they continued working a large garden. John was always a good neighbor and ready to help anyone, friend or stranger. He will be remembered for the home movies he filmed, the many 4th of July celebrations and chicken barbecues. John would use any excuse to have a party. He enjoyed playing the accordion and harmonica, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and telling a good story. John especially enjoyed visiting with friends and family, spending time and playing games with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dodgeville. He was also a charter member and a former board member of Pleasant Ridge Ss. Peter & Paul Preservation, Inc.
